just a peck.

Everyone grumble briefly about the quality of this picture.  My camera is being repaired.  Normalcy will resume very soon.
If your worst nightmare is me posting a ferocious amount of Christmas recipes every single day,
your worst nightmare HAS ARRIVED.

I'm in California, have a massive kitchen at my disposal, and am the daughter of a woman who has already started her cookie-baking marathon.

The time is now.

First on the docket:

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
from Sunset Cookies

Such a tradition, and rightfully so.

1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Extra white sugar for coating
Hershey's kisses

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream the vegetable shortening, peanut butter and sugars with an electric mixer.  Add the egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix the remaining dry ingredients.  Add to the beaten mixture 1/3 cup at a time, incorporating between each addition.

Roll dough into one inch balls, and then roll each ball in white sugar to coat.  Place 2 inched apart on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

Unwrap a bunch of kisses.  Eat 7.  Remove the cookies from the oven, and press one kiss into the center of each cookie.  Cookies will deflate and crack a bit --- this is a good thing.  Return the tray to the oven and bake for 3-5 more minutes.

Do not eat them for breakfast.
(Just kidding, eat them for breakfast.  I'm eating one right now!  And its not even nine AM yet!)

Side note: look at this water bottle my sister got for her birthday.  Isn't it perfect?
